REMINISCING

*

After they told us at the Italian restaurant
the waiting was one hour!
Excuse me??
We will drive 40 min.closer to our house then ...

This Peruvian one is much larger than it looks like from the outside, much busier than we expected, many young people, and a friendly service.

No just any kind of food
on our anniversary:)
besides, we like Peruvian music
and a homey atmosphere

forty one years baby

The Peruvian waiter took this pic,
he couldn't help the reflection of the light
made the wall this kind of orange yellow :)

Snow coming down in the Netherlands
Married 5 years (in the seventies)
Me thinks back then we had too much
responsibility on our young shoulders.

this was the nineties folks! (textured with "grain" PS)

For a long time this was my corner studio
In our 40 feet living-dining room
it was hardly noticeable

yet my best paintings come
from that plank above my desk!

Now I have a custom made easel
that can hold 6-8 foot paintings

Of all the scary times,
it were not the tornados, or the earthquakes,
 but this scary sky

colored by smoke
ashes were everywhere
on the driveway, the car

As soon as I came outside I started coughing
it was a health hazard for a week
people started wearing masks
because fires were burning an hour away
it was in Oct - Nov when 15 fires
were burning (I think it was in 2008)  in California

Camellia taken in Huntington Library Gardens

It's one thing to have a wedding
day with all the bells and whistles
altogether different is
to have a marriage
lasting a life time.

Oh wow...forty one years...that is just sensational! Happy Happy Anniversary! I enjoyed your pictures and tidbits of history very much also! You guys look great together and look like you belong with each other.

I thought my hubby and I were doing good with 31 years under our belt. But you two have got us beat. Wow, you guys must have been super young when you married. You both still look terrific.

Thanks for dropping my blog and leaving a comment. But, the answer to your question is no I did not Photoshop anything. I didn't even own Photoshop then. I do now but never use it. I've only owned Photoshop for a couple of years. I don't understand it very much. I took a course in it. But, then didn't keep up with things. My desk top died and I reloaded Photoshop onto my laptop but don't even remember how to set my preferences. I really need to find some tutorials and get that taken care of.

The only thing I did to those pictures that were taken with a Kodak Instamatic was re-size them in Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7 and sharpen a tad. I was surprised when I found them too! And, I am surprised the pictures turned out so well. I know my hubby loves the camera. It's his now and he gets some fabulous shots out on the road.

I have to say, that Kodak as far as this little camera, we own, beats every other camera I've seen as far as staying true to color, and taking great pictures. I wish they would move into the field of higher end cameras. I would snap one up in a heart beat! I currently shot with a Cannon Rebel. I only have three lenses, 18-55. 55-250 and a 400 zoom. I do not like the Rebel and was very much the gullible amateur when I purchased it.

Well enough of that. I hope you guys have had a terrific week and Happy happy anniversary once again!

Enjoyed your photos from the past, Emille. Such a great young couple--hope life got easier as you went along. I have friends who live in CA and she shares photos of the fires you have too often. Terrifying.

congratulations to you!

I remember those fires! Not because I was there, but because my father was there, in our mountain home where those fires were burning. I was glued to the internet, searching for news...watching mountain websites where local mountainers were sending in reports and listening in to police scanners. I plotted all the blazes near our home on a google map. Luckily, our home made it through safe. My dad had been evacuated. He hadn't been able to take our dog, who ran off when he was packing up...but a neighbour who stayed to try to protect his house found him and fed him for us until my dad got back.

Thank you, Jackie. Tried to make the best of it, because we both had the flu! But in the summer we're going to do something special. I don't know Jasc Paint Shop ... sounds like it's practical! Since hubby had taken a photoshop class, he taught me some things (enough to get by for blogging):)

Gale, once one goes through something like that, you never forget it! Probably the same with a flood, hurricane, or earthquake that was traumatic for one or another reason. Happy for you, you didn't lose anything or your father!
